Job Summary:
The Scientific Director will lead the development and optimization of novel protocols for directed differentiation of cells of ectodermal lineages. Working with the Research and Development (R&D) department and reporting to the VP of R&D, this role requires an innovative and strategic thinker with a strong background in developmental biology and stem cell culture. The successful candidate will oversee multiple projects and a team of researchers, ensuring they meet timeline, budget, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Lead the design, execution, and optimization of experiments to develop differentiation protocols for various neuronal cell types
- Stress-test and troubleshoot workflows to robustly generate specialized cell types
- Rigorous design validation and reporting to support technology transfer
- Strategic planning and resource allocation to ensure smooth execution of projects
- Lead a team of Scientists and Research Associates to accomplish goals, mentor team members and foster professional growth
- Cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, quality control, marketing and legal departments
- Prepare and present findings to relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Stay up to date on state-of-the-art technologies and trends in the field and uphold internal quality standards
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant field plus a minimum of 5-7 years of experience
- Expertise in human pluripotent stem cell culture and ectodermal differentiation
- Experience with molecular and cellular assays such as immunocytochemistry, qPCR, flow cytometry and ELISA
- Experience with developing and launching RUO products according to ISO 9001
- Excellent communication skills
- Good documentation practice
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
