Trailhead Biosystems is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate II to join our team focused on the generation of cell types from all germ layers for biomanufacturing applications.
Job Summary:
The Research Assistant II will be primarily responsible for the maintenance and differentiation of pluripotent stem cell cultures. This role builds on the foundational skills developed in a Research Assistant I position, with greater independence and involvement in a broader range of laboratory techniques. The RA II will contribute to experimental execution, data collection, and may assist in experimental design. They are expected to demonstrate proficiency in key techniques, troubleshoot technical issues, and help train junior staff. Strong time management, organizational skills, and a solid work ethic are essential. Experience with pluripotent stem cell cultures is required. Prior experience in GLP/GMP environments and suspension culture expansion is preferred but not required. This is a full-time role and requires weekend availability.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Maintain accurate daily documentation and data collection for ongoing experiments
- Oversee daily cell culture maintenance, including pluripotent stem cell handling and quality control
- Conduct and oversee daily laboratory tasks
- Contribute to the design and execution of stem cell differentiation experiments
- Operate and maintain TECAN liquid handling robots and automated platforms
- Execute and support QC workflows to monitor cell identity, viability, and sterility
- Perform cell-specific functional assays to assess cell health and differentiation
- Troubleshoot technical and experimental issues independently
- Analyze experimental data independently (ELISA, ICC, flow cytometry, qPCR)
- Plan and coordinate daily experiments and timelines effectively
- Conduct RNA sequence analysis
- Train and mentor new employees in lab techniques and protocols
- Write and revise SOPs to reflect updated processes and best practices
- Optimize protocols to improve efficiency, reproducibility, and data quality
- Develop and validate new functional assays based on project needs
- Identify and implement improvements to lab workflows and automation
- Research and apply new techniques based on current scientific literature
- Assist in designing experiments and driving projects with minimal supervision
- Prepare and present data in internal meetings and local scientific conferences
- Draft sections of project reports and research documentation
- Support data organization for publications and assist with manuscript preparation
Qualifications
Masters of Science with 2 years of experience

Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
