Reefer Technician

Summary: The Reefer Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining refrigerated trailer units to ensure safe and reliable operation. This role supports the company’s fleet by performing preventative maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration systems, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration components.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair transport refrigeration units (e.g., Thermo King, Carrier).
• Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled service on refrigerated trailers.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system issues.
• Conduct system diagnostics and performance testing to ensure proper cooling operation.
• Perform repairs on compressors, condensers, evaporators, belts, and refrigeration lines.
• Document maintenance work and repairs performed in maintenance systems.
• Ensure equipment complies with company safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime.
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• Experience working on transport refrigeration units (Thermo King, Carrier, or similar) preferred.
• Experience in diesel mechanics, trailer repair, or refrigeration systems strongly preferred.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration system issues.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance tasks.
• Basic computer skills for work order documentation.
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• EPA Certification for refrigerant handling.
• Experience with transport refrigeration diagnostics tools and systems.
• Trade school or technical training in HVAC, refrigeration, or diesel mechanics.
  
  
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in shop and outdoor environments.
• Ability to bend, climb, and work around heavy equipment.
