Trailer Bridge is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee and guide the day-to-day operations of the accounting team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, leading month-end and year-end close processes, managing audits, and supporting financial planning. The Accounting Manager will supervise accounting staff, provide coaching and development, and partner with leadership to drive process improvements and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Essential Duties And Responsabilities
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Supervise, train, and mentor accounting staff; provide feedback, performance reviews, and professional development opportunities.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate completion.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by the team.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Partner with the Controller and Finance leadership on forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning.
- Lead coordination with external auditors for financial, tax, and compliance audits.
- Develop, document, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements for accuracy, timeliness, and scalability.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support company goals and initiatives.
- Support special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and internal control best practices.
- Hands-on experience with general ledger functions and close processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPS, pivot tables).
- Experience with accounting systems/software (Great Plains, Reqlogic, AS400, EDGE) is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
