Position Summary
This position supports the corporate finance function of a holding company that provides oversight and operational support to dealership locations nationwide. The Staff Accountant will contribute to accurate and timely financial reporting by handling core accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close support. This role is an important contributor to corporate accounting, financial analysis, and overall support of the finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain daily financial transactions within the company’s accounting system
- Perform bank reconciliations, oversee intercompany receivables and payables, allocate shared expenses, manage payments and collections, and calculate accruals
- Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Assist in the development of monthly reporting materials for stakeholders
- Support accounting activities related to credit facilities and loan balances
- Partner with the Controller to consolidate financial statements across multiple entities
- Identify and reconcile intercompany transactions for elimination in consolidated reporting
- Develop proficiency in internal systems, including dealership management and accounting platforms (training provided)
- Assist with audit preparation by compiling documentation and responding to auditor requests
- Evaluate current workflows and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- Approximately 3 years of progressive accounting experience; public accounting experience or CPA track is a plus
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including GAAP, general ledger processes, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn new accounting systems
Salary : $72,000 - $80,000
