Daily Job Duties – What You'll Do
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
- Follow safety rules and look out for yourself and your teammates
- Work outdoors doing general yard and warehouse labor
- Sweep, shovel, and keep work areas clean and safe
- Help weigh, sort, and move scrap metal and materials
- Operate a forklift (or learn—we train)
- Inspect incoming scrap and help customers understand what we accept
- Cross-train and help where needed—no two days are the same
This is real, physical work—not a desk job. The harder you work, the more you earn. No experience required—we provide paid training.
Job Requirements – What We're Looking For
- Dependable workers who show up on time and ready to work
- Comfortable working outdoors in heat and weather
- Able to stand or walk most of the shift (up to 12 hours)
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when needed
- Previous general labor, warehouse, construction, or industrial experience is a plus—but not required. We train the right people
- Forklift experience is a plus (not required)
- Bilingual is a plus
- Must pass hair drug test and background check
