We are seeking an experienced Ambulance Billing Director to oversee the billing operations of a growing non-emergency ambulance service.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands ambulance billing from start to finish and can effectively manage a small billing team. Current ambulance billing experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of ambulance billing and revenue cycle operations
- Manage and support a billing team of approximately 1–2 employees
- Ensure claims are submitted accurately and timely
- Manage Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing
- Review and resolve claim denials, rejections, underpayments, and unpaid claims
- Oversee accounts receivable and follow-up
- Ensure proper use of modifiers, diagnosis codes, documentation, and payer-specific billing requirements
- Monitor billing performance, collections, aging, and outstanding claims
- Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer, and ambulance billing regulations
- Identify opportunities to improve collections and reduce denials
- Work closely with ownership and management regarding billing performance and revenue cycle issues
- Assist with difficult or complex claims when necessary
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of ambulance billing experience
- Must currently be working in ambulance billing
- Strong knowledge of the complete ambulance billing and revenue cycle process
- Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and commercial payers
- Strong knowledge of denials, appeals, eligibility, authorizations, modifiers, coding, and claim follow-up
- Ability to manage and hold a small team accountable
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Comfortable taking ownership of the billing department and its results
Compensation
$60,000–$80,000 per year, depending on ambulance billing experience and qualifications.
