What You’ll Do
- Schedule and dispatch technicians based on customer requests, call urgency, and technician availability
- Communicate with technicians throughout the day via phone and dispatch systems
- Relay work orders, job updates, and key information to technicians
- Track technician start times, departure times, routes, and job progress
- Maintain a daily dispatch matrix including technician routes, locations, specialties, tools, and qualifications
- Assign jobs to the appropriate technician based on skillset and availability
- Anticipate route, scheduling, or parts issues and make quick, sound decisions
- Respond to special customer requests related to service calls
- Order parts for special jobs and track pending parts
- Follow up on recommended and pending work
- Forecast workload 2–3 days in advance
- Contact customers regarding parts status and job updates
- Maintain technician schedules including vacation, sick time, and weekend rotations
- Interact with technicians daily to ensure smooth operations
- Dispatch experience highly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
