Job Title: Project Coordinator – Gas & Electric Services
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Position Summary:
The Project Coordinator is responsible for managing the execution of gas and electric service projects for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This role involves coordinating the design, scheduling, and field construction activities to ensure timely delivery based on customer requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of gas and/or electric distribution systems and act as a liaison between Consumers Energy, customers, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and “face” of Consumers Energy to customers.
- Coordinate all aspects of project delivery, including communication with customers, design teams, construction crews, and permitting authorities.
- Conduct project scoping, estimate customer/system loads, and identify required permits.
- Prepare work orders, cost estimates, and documentation in support of project execution.
- Utilize CAD, SAP, and other relevant systems for project planning and design.
- Perform field visits to assess customer needs and project feasibility.
- Monitor project milestones and deadlines, ensuring on-time delivery.
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously with high attention to detail.
- Generate and track tasks for internal departments to ensure alignment with customer timelines.
- Evaluate distribution design requirements and direct preparation of work orders.
- Analyze complex problems and develop innovative, cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in a scientific or technical field (minimum 48 credit hours),
- OR
- Completion of at least two years of college coursework (60 credits) toward a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of gas and/or electric distribution systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Windows OS.
- Experience with CAD software and SAP or similar project management tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Effective multitasking and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings.
- Leadership capabilities and a proactive problem-solving approach.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to anticipate impacts across systems.
