Position Overview:

CMS Energy is seeking a dedicated Customer Energy Management Project Coordinator I to oversee the execution of providing gas and electric service to residential and commercial/industrial customers. The role requires a strong understanding of Gas and/or Electric Distribution Systems and the ability to effectively prioritize and organize projects. The Project Coordinator will handle customer requests from the initial scope gathering phase through design, scheduling, and field construction to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the main point of contact between Consumers Energy and customers, managing coordination between all involved stakeholders.
• Estimate customer and system loads, update customers on project status, and provide cost estimates.
• Generate tasks for internal departments, identify required permits, and schedule work orders.
• Coordinate the preparation of work orders by evaluating and analyzing distribution design requirements and their impact on the distribution system.
• Ensure all pre-requisites for successful project completion are met, using creative solutions when necessary to overcome challenges.
• May be required to conduct fieldwork to meet with customers onsite.
• Apply knowledge of industry standards to manage project timelines and scheduling, ensuring project milestones are met.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• A 2-year Associate Degree in a scientific or technical field (48 scientific or technical credit hours) or
• Completion of at least two years of college coursework (60 credits) towards a Bachelor's degree in a technical field.

Skills and Experience:

• Working knowledge of gas and/or electric distribution systems.
• Strong communication and customer service skills to manage complex projects and liaise effectively with customers.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high organization standards.
• Proficiency in computer-assisted drafting (CAD), SAP, or similar software systems.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex problems and take corrective actions.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to conduct fieldwork as required.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and other Windows-based applications.
