CAD Designer / Drafter
Location: Salt Lake City, UT 84111 (Hybrid)
Duration: 12 Month Contract
Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated CAD Designer / Drafter to support gas distribution and pipeline projects. This role will be responsible for preparing piping and mechanical fabrication drawings, civil site and grading plans, and pipeline alignment/profile drawings for construction projects including gate stations, meter and regulator stations, and related pipeline facilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience with AutoCAD and related drafting software, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering, construction, and field teams.
Responsibilities
- Prepare simple to intermediate level piping, mechanical fabrication, and civil site drawings for gas distribution pipeline projects.
- Develop pipeline alignment and profile drawings for construction activities.
- Support projects involving gate stations, meter and regulator stations, and pipeline appurtenances.
- Coordinate assigned projects and assist with drawing reviews and status updates.
- Provide facility mapping information, drawings, and pipeline data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Research existing facility information and support modifications to existing systems.
- Interpret and update as-built drawings, field notes, and survey information.
- Assist engineering and construction teams with drafting and design support.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure design quality standards are met.
- Participate in occasional field visits to company facilities and project sites.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or certificate in Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 0–2 years of drafting/design experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD and related CAD software.
- Ability to read and interpret facility drawings, alignment sheets, and construction documents.
- Basic understanding of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
