Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and accounts payable processes, with the ability to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payment processing. This role is responsible for managing vendor invoices, reconciling accounts, resolving discrepancies, and supporting month-end close activities. The Accounts Payable Specialist will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and contributing to the overall efficiency of the organization's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and verify a high volume of vendor invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
• Review invoices for proper approvals, coding, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Ensure payments are processed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate accounts payable records.
• Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies by partnering with vendors and internal departments.
• Prepare and review accounts payable-related journal entries and accruals for month-end close.
• Maintain vendor files and ensure all documentation is complete and up to date.
• Safeguard confidential financial information and maintain data integrity.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable, accounting, or finance experience.
• Working knowledge of ERP and accounting systems.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis, and spreadsheet management.
• Experience with invoice processing workflows and accounts payable automation tools preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
