Key Responsibilities

Relational Leadership & Staff Advocacy

  • Culture Building: Actively foster a supportive professional environment characterized by empathy, warmth, and transparency to ensure high staff morale.
  • Mentorship & Presence: Lead by example by being highly visible in the building; this includes performing regular classroom observations and being willing to "jump in" and assist in classrooms when necessary.
  • Communication: Implement formal staff communication protocols, including monthly "all-hands" meetings and a clear chain of command for when the Director is off-site.
  • Professional Development: Manage a formal teacher evaluation system that provides constructive, timely feedback within seven business days of observations.

Community Engagement & Marketing

  • Parent Partnership: Initiate and lead a "Parent Teacher Association" (PTA) or Parent Board to collaborate on fundraising and community-building events.
  • Visibility: Serve as the primary face of the preschool, hosting quarterly "Parent Coffee" sessions and modernizing the school's digital presence via social media and website updates.
  • Strategic Marketing: Partner with the Treasurer to develop and execute a marketing plan and budget aimed at filling empty classrooms and increasing community awareness of the school.

Growth & Financial Oversight

  • Enrollment Strategy: Proactively identify opportunities to increase enrollment and tuition revenue, with the long-term goal of expanding staff and opening new classrooms.
  • Fundraising & Grants: Lead fundraising efforts (e.g., fun-runs) in collaboration with parents and seek out accessible grants to support school improvements.
  • Budget Management: Work with the Board and Treasurer to oversee financial health, including budget preparation, accounting practices, and maximizing the use of platforms like Brightwheel for parent billing/communication.

"Summer at TPP" Program Management

  • Strategic Oversight: Serve as the primary lead for the "Summer at TPP" program, ensuring it maintains the same quality and safety standards as the academic year.
  • Staffing & Curriculum: Responsible for the full lifecycle of the summer program, including hiring/scheduling staff and collaborating with teachers to define an engaging, play-based summer curriculum.
  • Operational Presence: Maintain an active on-site presence during summer sessions with abbreviated core hours to support staff and engage with families.

Operational Excellence

  • Program Quality: Formalize the structure, safety, and curriculum of all offerings, including the morning program and afternoon program.
  • Modernization: Oversee the migration to unified digital tools (e.g., Google for Education) to professionalize internal and external communications.
  • Facility Safety: Ensure all physical facilities comply with safety regulations and maintain a professional relationship with the Church as a tenant.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Interpersonal Excellence: Must be kind, confident, and empathetic, with the ability to resolve problems tactfully and maintain a sense of humor.
  • Educational Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent combination of education and experience meeting all MSDE requirements for a Center Director (41 children).
  • Managerial Experience: Proven track record in hiring, managing employees, and curriculum planning in a childcare setting.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience in budget management and financial accountability.
  • Preferred Skills: Specific knowledge of preschool-accessible grants and experience building parent-led volunteer organizations.

Accountability

  • Reporting: Reports directly to the TPP Board of Directors.
  • Performance: Success is measured by staff satisfaction (NPS), enrollment growth, and the successful completion of annual strategic projects established by the Board.
