Job Purpose
To serve as the visionary and operational leader of a high-quality preschool program for two, three, and four-year-olds. The Director is responsible for fostering a nurturing, "hands-on" culture that stimulates curiosity in students and professional enthusiasm in staff. This role requires a strategic builder who will modernize school operations, champion enrollment growth, and serve as a warm, approachable bridge between the school, parents, and the church community.
SALARY
Range $55,000-$70,000 a year with benefits. Commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities
Relational Leadership & Staff Advocacy
- Culture Building: Actively foster a supportive professional environment characterized by empathy, warmth, and transparency to ensure high staff morale.
- Mentorship & Presence: Lead by example by being highly visible in the building; this includes performing regular classroom observations and being willing to "jump in" and assist in classrooms when necessary.
- Communication: Implement formal staff communication protocols, including monthly "all-hands" meetings and a clear chain of command for when the Director is off-site.
- Professional Development: Manage a formal teacher evaluation system that provides constructive, timely feedback within seven business days of observations.
Community Engagement & Marketing
- Parent Partnership: Initiate and lead a "Parent Teacher Association" (PTA) or Parent Board to collaborate on fundraising and community-building events.
- Visibility: Serve as the primary face of the preschool, hosting quarterly "Parent Coffee" sessions and modernizing the school's digital presence via social media and website updates.
- Strategic Marketing: Partner with the Treasurer to develop and execute a marketing plan and budget aimed at filling empty classrooms and increasing community awareness of the school.
Growth & Financial Oversight
- Enrollment Strategy: Proactively identify opportunities to increase enrollment and tuition revenue, with the long-term goal of expanding staff and opening new classrooms.
- Fundraising & Grants: Lead fundraising efforts (e.g., fun-runs) in collaboration with parents and seek out accessible grants to support school improvements.
- Budget Management: Work with the Board and Treasurer to oversee financial health, including budget preparation, accounting practices, and maximizing the use of platforms like Brightwheel for parent billing/communication.
"Summer at TPP" Program Management
- Strategic Oversight: Serve as the primary lead for the "Summer at TPP" program, ensuring it maintains the same quality and safety standards as the academic year.
- Staffing & Curriculum: Responsible for the full lifecycle of the summer program, including hiring/scheduling staff and collaborating with teachers to define an engaging, play-based summer curriculum.
- Operational Presence: Maintain an active on-site presence during summer sessions with abbreviated core hours to support staff and engage with families.
Operational Excellence
- Program Quality: Formalize the structure, safety, and curriculum of all offerings, including the morning program and afternoon program.
- Modernization: Oversee the migration to unified digital tools (e.g., Google for Education) to professionalize internal and external communications.
- Facility Safety: Ensure all physical facilities comply with safety regulations and maintain a professional relationship with the Church as a tenant.
Skills & Qualifications
- Interpersonal Excellence: Must be kind, confident, and empathetic, with the ability to resolve problems tactfully and maintain a sense of humor.
- Educational Credentials: Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent combination of education and experience meeting all MSDE requirements for a Center Director (41 children).
- Managerial Experience: Proven track record in hiring, managing employees, and curriculum planning in a childcare setting.
- Financial Acumen: Experience in budget management and financial accountability.
- Preferred Skills: Specific knowledge of preschool-accessible grants and experience building parent-led volunteer organizations.
Accountability
- Reporting: Reports directly to the TPP Board of Directors.
- Performance: Success is measured by staff satisfaction (NPS), enrollment growth, and the successful completion of annual strategic projects established by the Board.

Qualifications
