The Assistant Township Manager performs complex administrative and managerial duties in direct support of the Township Manager and Board of Commissioners. This role is integral to Township operations and provides leadership across multiple functional areas, including Human Resources, grant administration, and departmental coordination.
This position also serves as Acting Township Manager as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in overseeing Township operations and strategic decision-making
- Lead and manage all Human Resources functions, including policy administration and personnel management
- Foster collaboration and problem-solving across departments
- Conduct research, analysis, and provide recommendations to support the Board of Commissioners
- Identify, prepare, and administer grant opportunities
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and operational strategies
- Oversee Township social media strategy, content, and engagement
- Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions
- Attend Board meetings, staff meetings, and community engagements
- Support special projects and initiatives as directed
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience (municipal, business, or nonprofit leadership preferred)
- Strong knowledge of municipal operations, HR practices, and employment law
- Experience working with regulatory agencies (e.g., PennDOT, DEP, DCNR) is a plus
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems quickly
- U.S. Citizen
- Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
- Ability to obtain Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance
This role is primarily office-based with occasional field visits, meetings, and evening commitments. The position requires adaptability, professionalism, and the ability to navigate a dynamic municipal environment.
