What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Technician position at TOWN OF WINSLOW?
The Winslow Public Library (a department of the Town of Winslow) has an opening for a Library Technician. This is a part-time, 21-hr a week position. This position's average schedule will be for 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday), from 9 am to 4 pm. There is occasional opportunity to pick up more hours for events or emergency coverage of other positions.
The Library Technician works under the general guidance and supervision of the Library Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Performs circulation desk procedures, such as checking in and checking out materials, registering patrons, and collecting fines & fees.
· Assists in the processing and recordkeeping of overdue materials.
· Process Interlibrary loan requests and check-in deliveries of interlibrary loans.
· Processes, withdraws, repairs, or reconditions library materials.
· Assists in the maintenance, upkeep, and repair of library materials.
· Maintains the orderly placement of the collection on the shelves.
· Shelves library materials and reads the shelves.
· Assist patrons with ready-reference questions and reader advisory, bibliographic instruction, and database searching.
· Aids with printing, copying, scanning, and faxing.
· Assists in library programming and displays.
· Assists in the processing of new materials.
· Assists in the processing of library statistics.
· Sorts and routes mail
· Answers directional questions and refers patrons to appropriate personnel.
· Provides word processing, desktop publishing and filing services as needed.
· Performs other related work as required.
· Responsible for Library opening and closing procedures as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school degree is required, some higher education and public library experience preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the position's responsibilities may be considered. Applicants must have proficiency with technology and experience with social media, demonstrated knowledge of literature and programming are a priority. Candidates should be well organized, dependable, and have well-developed people skills.
