Description The West Springfield Park & Recreation Department seeks
qualified individuals to fill Lifeguard positions. Lifeguards are
responsible for surveying a body of water and conducting rescues to help
weak or injured swimmers get to safety. Their duties include speaking
with swimmers to enforce swimming rules, keeping track of each swimmer
in the water and administering first aid to injured swimmers. Examples
of Duties: Opening and closing the pool each day according to scheduled
hours Regularly treat the pool with the correct amount of chemicals
Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any
safety issues throughout shift Directing swimmers out of water in
dangerous conditions Enforce rules and regulations at the pool. Closely
monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe Organizing
and overseeing daily pool operations Providing swim lessons when
applicable Maintaining a clean pool environment Submit reports as
required and keep records Render First-Aid when necessary in view of
Department Policy Responsible to the Department Director/Recreation
Supervisor, and directly to the Aquatics Director and/or Pool Manager
Shift: 11:30AM to 7:30PM or as assigned by the Aquatics Director. This
position is seasonal (June 18, 2026 through August 16, 2026). Salary:
The salary range for this position is \$17.00 per hour. Qualifications
Minimum Age Requirements: 15 years of age by June 18, 2026 along with
necessary certifications Qualifications: Must currently hold Lifeguard,
First Aid, and CPR certifications, or equivalent.
