Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Maintenance Worker III to join our dedicated Highway team. The Maintenance Worker III performs skilled technical work involving the operation, servicing, and maintenance of light and heavy construction equipment. This role often works independently, makes technical onsite decisions, and may oversee job sites and direct lower-level maintenance workers.
Responsibilities
- Operate light and heavy construction equipment skillfully.
- Work independently, making technical judgments without onsite supervision.
- Take charge of job sites in the absence of higher-level supervisors and direct Maintenance Worker I and II staff.
- Perform preparation, preventative maintenance, adjustment, and servicing of construction equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Assist mechanics to reduce equipment downtime.
- Perform duties of Maintenance Worker I or II when needed.
- Carry out other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
- Exempt position; may be required to work outside regular hours or be on-call.
Skills
- All knowledge, abilities, and physical capabilities required of Maintenance Worker I and Maintenance Worker II/Truck Driver.
- Knowledge of safe operation, maintenance, and mechanics of construction equipment and related tools.
- Proven ability to operate both light and heavy construction equipment effectively.
- Ability to make independent technical and operational decisions onsite.
- Ability to plan and execute equipment-related tasks.
- Ability to lead a work crew in completing assignments.
- Communication skills sufficient to convey technical requirements to other workers.
