Important Applicant Information:
- Possession of a current AZ EMT Certification will be required of this position at the time of hire (i.e. an EMT certification through National Registry or through a state other than Arizona will not suffice).
- The normal work-schedule for QCFMD EMS is 48 hours on, 96 hours off (average of 56 hours per week).
- Due to the initial training program, the first 2-4 weeks of employment will be a 40-hour, Monday-Thursday schedule.
- During the 40-hour training period, the pay rate will adjusted to account for the 56-hour per week average.
JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is assigned to staff Queen Creek Fire and Medical Department ambulances. The EMT will respond to emergency medical and other incidents as dispatched and will work in concert with firefighters to provide emergency medical care to the sick and injured. In addition, the EMT will assist with facilitation of Telehealth or Crisis Intervention Team activities independent of firefighters.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the Town’s needs.
- Provide Emergency Medical Treatment and Transportation of patients in accordance with Arizona Law, AZDHS Regulations, Regional EMS protocols, and Medical Direction.
- Prepare patient care reports in a timely fashion, using the department’s ePCR software
- Drive and operate Fire and Medical Department vehicles
- Perform Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation; apply splints and other necessary immobilization equipment.
- Inventory and request medical supplies and medications as necessary
- Operate medical equipment as necessary including but not limited to cardiac monitoring equipment, ventilators, automated external defibrillators, and automated CPR devices
- Participate in community outreach and public safety events
- Participates with firefighting crews in performing non-firefighting related duties
- Operates as assigned within the incident command system
- Other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
- To be eligible, incumbents cannot be on the Office of Inspector General (OIG) list of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
- The position will be assigned to a 56 hour per week schedule. Work hours will include Nights, Weekends and Holidays.
- This position is subject to mandatory staffing requirements.
LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of a valid Arizona driver’s license
- Possession of a current AZ EMT certification
- Possession of a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
KNOWLEDGE
