The Town of Pearisburg is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and organized professional to join our Clerk and Administration Departments as a Human Resources Coordinator. This full-time and on-site position offers an excellent opportunity to support the Town’s workforce while contributing to a collaborative and service-oriented organization.
The ideal candidate will assist Clerk staff in supporting daily office operations, demonstrating professionalism while greeting and assisting visitors, and helping manage daily communications. This role is essential to ensuring efficient personnel operations and fostering a positive workplace culture.

Salary
The starting annual salary for this position is $41,822 – $58,460 annually based on qualifications and experience. This is an exempt position and is not eligible for overtime pay but does qualify for compensatory time.
Position Overview
The Human Resources Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the Town’s daily operations by coordinating human resources functions and ensuring compliance with employment laws and policies. This position works closely with the Town Clerk and Town Manager to assist with recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, personnel records management, and reporting requirements. The Coordinator also serves as a resource to employees and supervisors by helping guide HR processes and maintaining accurate, confidential records
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred
- Three to five years of experience in human resources, personnel administration, or related administrative work preferred
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with human resources practices, employment laws, and benefits administration is preferred; however, a strong willingness to learn and grow in these areas is essential
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records and work collaboratively across departments
- Municipal experience is a plus, but not required
