Job Overview
The Department of Public Works Seasonal Laborer performs a variety of functions including landscaping, field maintenance, and maintenance of town owned properties. Seasonal work includes but is not limited to such duties as mowing, clearing brush, trimming trees, removing litter, and collecting landscape materials. Individuals are responsible for using and operating a variety of motor vehicles and equipment, power tools and hand tools in support of the maintenance of the Town’s Parks and Grounds Division.
Duties
- Perform lawn care activities including mowing, fertilizing, and weed control.
- Assist in tree care tasks such as tree trimming and removal.
- Conduct grounds keeping duties to maintain the aesthetic appeal of Town owned properties.
- Remove litter and debris.
- Utilize hand tools effectively for various tasks including digging, cutting, and shaping landscapes.
- Operate a variety of motor vehicles and equipment.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in the operation and servicing of mowing equipment, and grounds keeping is preferred.
- Must maintain a valid Massachusetts state driver’s license.
- Successfully complete CORI request
