Under immediate or general supervision, performs a variety of routine, semi-skilled maintenance within the Public Works Department, which includes Grounds, Streets, Facilities, Water Resources, Sanitation & Garbage.  Work is performed cooperatively, in a manner that ensures individual, co-worker and public safety.  Apprenticeships are of a temporary and/or seasonal nature and must not to exceed a total of 1560 hours.

1. Performs routine labor, repairs, construction, grounds care, painting, and other maintenance work based on clear and concise directions and/or close supervision.
2. Uses a wide range of hand and power tools such as shovels, brooms, mowers, edgers, weed eaters, saws, drills, jack hammers, air compressors, etc. 
3. Equipment operation is limited to 1 ton and smaller vehicles, (towing of trailers will not be permitted). 
4. May be assigned to perform general labor individually or as part of a maintenance crew and may be asked to become Florida State MOT certified. 

1. Must be 18 years old.
2. Experience in area of semi-skilled maintenance within public works operation is preferred.
3. Valid Florida State Driver's license required. 

1. Ability to learn and retain skills, when provided with a reasonable level of instruction, for the purpose of successful completion of assigned job duties or tasks. 
2. Basic knowledge of power tools and or construction equipment.  
3. Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
4. Ability to learn and comply with pertinent safety regulations, standards, and guidelines. 
5. Ability to adhere to the work policies and procedures established by the Town and their Division Supervisor.
