Job Summary:

Tri-Town Assessing is a full-time regional assessing team serving the Towns of New London, Newbury, and Sunapee. We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and community-focused individual to join our team as Assistant Assessor.

Working under the direction of the Chief Assessor, the Assistant Assessor will support property assessment activities across all three communities. Responsibilities include conducting field inspections, collecting and verifying property data, maintaining accurate records in Avitar, assisting with property valuations and reports, and responding professionally to questions from property owners and municipal staff.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist in the collection, verification, and analysis of data relevant to the assessment process, including property values, market trends, and physical characteristics.

· Conduct field inspections of properties, measure buildings, and gather necessary information for assessments.

· Review and update property records, ensuring that data is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

· Assist in the preparation of reports, valuations, and recommendations for various stakeholders.

· Respond to questions and inquiries from property owners, the public or colleagues regarding assessment information and procedures.

· Maintain property data using Avitar software, spreadsheets, and other records related to assessments.

· Assist in ensuring that assessments comply with applicable New Hampshire laws, rules, and assessing standards.

· Stay informed about industry trends, assessment techniques, and changes in laws or regulations that may impact the assessment process.

· Collaborate with team members and other departments to support the successful completion of assessment projects.

· Perform other duties as assigned to support the assessment function.

Qualifications:

· An Associate degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Real Estate, Economics, or Public Administration) or equivalent experience.

· Previous experience in property assessment, real estate, or a related field is a plus, but not required.

· Strong analytical and research skills.

· Ability to work with Microsoft Excel and specialized assessing software, including Avitar.

· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively work with a variety of stakeholders.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to property sites for inspections.

· Ability to pass a background check.

Preferred Skills:

· Familiarity with property tax laws and regulations.

· Certification or coursework in property assessment or a related area is a plus.

· Ability to interpret market data and apply it to assessments.

Working Conditions:

· Full-time position.

· Travel is required, travel throughout New London, Newbury, and Sunapee, for site inspections.

· 75% of work is outdoors.

· Competitive salary and benefits package.

Pay: $31.00 - $37.00 per hour
