What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Director (seasonal) position at Town of Mt. Pleasant?
The Town of Mount Pleasant is seeking to fill one (1) position for a Pool Director working primarily at the Town of Mount Pleasant Pool Complex. This is a seasonal position that includes the pool season (details below) as well as availability for pre-season work.
Job Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Day-to-day operations of the pool facility including pool events, communication, staff hiring, training, safety, and overall supervision of the pool facility.
- Interview, hire, and training of staff.
- Ensure the pool is adequately staffed each day and all staff are aware of their responsibilities and work schedules.
- Meets regularly with support staff to strategize pro-active measures of the facility to ensure the best experience for residents.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both pool complex team and Recreation Department to resolve issues as they arise.
- Monitors inventory and creates orders for supplies, including uniforms, First Aid material, etc.
- Implement the camp & public swim lesson programs.
- Plan and implement special events during pool season.
- Hire staff & schedule practices and meets for the Mount Pleasant swim team.
- Handle patron inquires and concerns.
- Compile and present pool report upon completion of pool season to the Recreation Department & Town Board.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Either (a) Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of experience in pool management or supervision; or (b) two (2) years post high school education and five (5) years of experience as stated in (a); or (c) a satisfactory equivalent combination of the foregoing training and experience.
- Must be available to work from May 24th to September 7th, 2026.
- Available for pre-season work to prepare for Pool opening on May 24th, 2026.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Familiarity with NYS Sanitary Code sub-part 6-1 for swimming pools.
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences to patrons.
- Lifeguard/CPR certifications (or willing to obtain).
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO)- certification preferred but not required.
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal, Temporary
Pay: $22,000.00 - $26,000.00 per year
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
