About the Role

The Stormwater Maintenance Supervisor performs supervisory, technical, and skilled work directing a unit responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of the Town’s stormwater management system. This role also provides oversight in facility inspections and supports illicit discharge investigations in coordination with the Stormwater Program Specialist.

Employees in this class plan, organize, and supervise daily operations within the Stormwater Section, including storm drainage maintenance, street sweeping, and field inspections. Work involves coordinating projects, assigning crews, ensuring proper safety practices, resolving citizen concerns, and supporting capital project needs. The role requires strong technical knowledge, independent judgment, and effective leadership in a field-based environment.

  • Plan, organize, and supervise construction, maintenance, and repair of storm drainage infrastructure
  • Conduct inspections of stormwater facilities and assist with illicit discharge investigations
  • Assign work to crews, inspect work for quality, and direct field operations on complex projects
  • Supervise and participate in storm drainage and street sweeping activities
  • Estimate and order materials and supplies; recommend budget needs; inspect existing systems and recommend capital priorities
  • Inspect contractor work for compliance with plans and specifications
  • Coordinate equipment, materials, and staff for efficient operations
  • Respond to citizen requests, concerns, and complaints
  • Train and instruct staff in safe work methods; ensure adherence to safety regulations
  • Participate in hiring, conduct performance coaching and evaluations, and support disciplinary processes
  • Prepare budget requests; monitor expenditures; ensure purchasing compliance
  • Prepare and maintain detailed records, time reports, and work orders
  • Participate in snow and ice removal operations
  • Use various computer programs to complete assignments
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology, construction, or related field and five to seven years of related supervisory experience;
     OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and ten years of experience in supervision, street construction, maintenance, and repair, including heavy equipment operation;
     OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary : $64,300 - $85,700
