What We Need
The Town of Harrisburg currently has an employment opportunity in our Public Works Department for a Buildings & Grounds Maintenance Worker. An employee in this class performs maintenance and general housekeeping in the assigned buildings and walkways. Employees may work in the early morning or evening hours, beginning before the office opens or after the office closes, and during regular office hours. The employee is subject to hazards in maintenance work, including working both inside and outside environments and exposure to cleaning solutions. Work is subject to the OSHA requirements on blood-borne pathogens. Work is performed in accordance with established policies and procedures, supplemented by instructions under the regular supervision of the designated supervisor, and is evaluated by observation, inspection of completed work daily, and feedback from staff in the respective buildings.
Desirable Candidate
Requires graduation from high school supplemented by technical or vocational maintenance training and at least one to two years’ experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read, write, and speak English and must be able to use a computer and work with basic software. Must have a valid NC or SC Driver’s License and ability to maintain a safe driving record in accordance with policy.
