Position Summary: Charlotte Country Day School is currently recruiting for a Grounds department team member. This is a full-time, year-round position providing general facilities, landscape and grounds support for the Operations Department.
Essential Functions:
- Performs maintenance and care for school landscape, athletic fields and grounds
- Inspects and cares for plants flowers, shrubs, trees, lawns and turf
- Mowing of school athletic fields, lawns and common areas
- Prunes trees and trims hedges to promote growth and improve appearance
- Apply fertilizers and weed control chemicals in compliance with state law
- Maintains and repairs irrigation equipment associated with lawns and flower beds
- Operates and maintains equipment such as trimmers and mowers
- Handles emergency situations that may occur
- Contribute positively to team morale, maintaining a positive pleasant demeanor
- Other duties as assigned by Assistant Facilities Manager and Grounds Supervisor
Qualification
- High School diploma with a minimum 2-year degree or minimum of two years of work experience in a landscape/grounds related position
- North Carolina Pesticide licenses, Sub Class L, for application of pesticides preferred or ability to obtain a license within 1 year
- Must be able to work overtime hours when required
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Regularly operates a variety of power tools and equipment
- Able to climb ladders, including on to roof tops
- Able to occasionally lift up to 70 lbs. while using proper lifting techniques
- Regularly uses close and distance vision
- Works in a wide variety of environments as found in all areas of the school
- Works in all weather-related conditions (hot, cold, wet or snow)
