The Town of Farmersburg is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and motivated individual to join our Utility & Street Department team. This position plays an essential role in maintaining the Town’s wastewater operations, streets, storm water infrastructure, public facilities, and equipment.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys variety in their work and takes pride in serving the community.
The employee performs a variety of skilled and unskilled work and operates a variety of light and medium equipment in completing tasks. Reassignment of duties within the job description may frequently occur depending on the demands of the job.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Daily maintenance of wastewater, streets, storm water and general duties assigned
- Maintain public park, streets, and town facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Perform general maintenance tasks, including road repair, landscaping, pipe infrastructure (sewer and storm) repair and grounds keeping.
- Operate a variety of town-owned equipment, such as backhoe, snowplow, lawn mowers, and tractors.
- Manage and maintain all town equipment, including but not limited to vehicles, tractor, lawnmowers, small engines, and backhoe.
- Perform seasonal tasks, including snow removal, salting, and sanding during winter months.
- Install, fix or replace road signage for traffic control.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid Indiana driver license.
- Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct
- Infrastructure construction experience preferred (sewer/sanitary, storm and road repair)
- Ability to meet all department hiring requirements
- Ability to work alone or with others in a team environment with minimum supervision
- Ability to understand, memorize, retain, and carry out written or oral instructions and present findings in oral or written form
- Ability to lift or move up to 50lbs
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and will be exposed to hot, cold, wet, and/or humid conditions
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
