What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bridge Tender position at Town of Dartmouth?
The Town of Dartmouth is seeking a seasonal Bridgetender to safely operate a municipal drawbridge for marine and vehicular traffic. This position runs May 1 – October 31, Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities include operating bridge machinery, monitoring warning gates and traffic signals, communicating with boat operators via radio, enforcing safety and navigation regulations, maintaining cleanliness of the bridge area, and reporting mechanical or safety concerns.
High school diploma or equivalent; some experience in bridge tending or operating mechanical equipment; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of the machinery used to open and close bridges. Strong knowledge of the rules of "seamanship". Thorough understanding of the Coast Guard Rules and Regulations.
Pay: $15.00 per hour
