Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator(s) - Sports & Programs, the CARA Track Head Coach position is responsible for planning and leading the track practice drills and activities that take place during the 2026 summer season. This part-time position, ranging from 10-20 hours, must be available Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (full day for meets) from June through July. Candidates must be 16 or older to apply.

Under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator(s) - Sports & Programs, the CARA Track Head Coach position is responsible for planning and leading the track practice drills and activities that take place during the 2026 summer season. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Planning track drills and activities.
- Conducting team practices
- Provide strong on-site leadership during meets.
- Coordinate parent volunteers for meets and team events.
- Ensure safety regulations and procedures are followed.
- Act as liaison between parents and league.
- Oversee general supervision of assistant coaches.
- Provide a safe and positive environment for participants to practice and compete.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to handle difficult situations involving participants with patience, good judgment, and diplomacy.
- Strong knowledge of the rules and regulations of Track and Field is required.
- Course work in recreation, education, or related field preferred.
- Experience in coaching track preferred.
- Demonstrate knowledge of track skills/techniques to efficiently help run the program.
- Experience working with children.
- Valid State of Colorado Driver’s License (required)
- CPR/First Aid Certification preferred.
- Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in sports settings. The employee may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions during program oversight and evaluation.
- The employee will regularly travel to and from various locations throughout the Town of Berthoud and Colorado to complete job responsibilities and tasks assigned.
- Be able to physically lead and demonstrate skill/activity.
- Must possess the strength and stamina to perform strenuous physical activity.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand walk, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
