Under the direction of the Library and Facilities Directors, the Lead Custodian will be responsible for monitoring all building systems, ground maintenance and repair of the Belmont Public Library. This will include cleaning, grounds maintenance, snow and ice removal, performing minor repairs and projects. Instructs part time and temporary custodians and cleaning attendants in all aspects of custodial work.
Opens building and checks all systems and security; collects books from book drops two or three times daily. Delivers and picks up mail (including interoffice mail). Oversees night and weekend custodial staff. Creates work orders for repairs and maintenance as needed. Set up and break down for meetings and events, and programs. Maintains availability on call to respond to emergencies.
High school diploma or equivalent with three years of repair, building maintenance or custodial work experience or any equivalent. Requires possession of a valid Massachusetts driver's license.
The starting pay range is $31.28 – 33.66. This position works forty (40) hours per week and will occasionally be required to work overtime. This is a fully benefitted position in the AFSCME Local 408, State Council 93 Union and is subject to that respective collective bargaining agreement.

All full-time and some part-time employees will need to complete a pre-employment physical and drug-screening examination. Both full-time and part-time positions require a CORI criminal background screening.
