SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
An employee in this position performs a wide variety of tasks working directly with the community members who volunteer with the Town of Apex. This position serves as the primary liaison between volunteers (individual, corporate and community groups) and the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources leadership staff. This position will be working with the Adopt-a-Park program, special events and the Apex Youth Council and more.
This position reports to the Special Events Coordinator.
This position has no staff supervisory responsibilities.
A SAMPLE OF THE ESSENTIALS:
- Provides direction, consultation, and creates volunteer position descriptions for all volunteer functions within the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department.
- Recruits, selects and trains volunteers, increases volunteer engagement and sustains volunteer participation by providing support and communication.
- Provides meaningful and appropriate opportunities for volunteer applicants based on aptitudes and preferences.
- Evaluates all aspects of volunteer programs to ensure effectiveness and to recommend and implement changes as appropriate.
- Provides monitoring and evaluation of volunteers to verify satisfactory conduct and performance.
- Supports Athletics division in maintaining databases of volunteer coach background checks and online National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) training.
- Establishes and conducts an annual volunteer recognition program.
- Develops and administers volunteer policy and procedures for the Town of Apex.
- Develops and maintains volunteer database.
- Establishes volunteers lists for each park.
- Establishes volunteer lists for each special event.
- Coordinates Apex Youth Council meetings and events.
- Manages volunteers at Special Events.
- Serves as staff liaison to the Bee City Committee and implement initiatives and programs of the committee.
Additional Job Duties:
- May be required to work some weeknights and weekends.
- Performs related duties as required.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Bachelor’s degree and considerable experience in volunteer coordination and special events; or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
