What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Town of Addison?
Under general supervision, performs routine manual labor tasks in cleaning and maintaining Town recreation facilities.
- Cleans fitness equipment, fitness mirrors; sweeps indoor courts, aerobics studio.
- Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, locker rooms areas; restocks bathroom supplies; scrubs floor and grout.
- Empties and cleans waste receptacles and takes to dumpster
- Dusts and cleans ceiling fans, air vents, and windows; spot cleans and vacuums carpet, floors.
- Maintains equipment and materials used in the work and replenishes supplies as needed.
- Turns on and off lights, various equipment; checks and locks all doors, gates, and windows.
- Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; sets up for classes, activities, special events, and meetings.
- cleans indoor and outdoor pool including sweeping or vacuuming pool, sweeping and scrubbing pool deck, cleaning pool fixtures
- May be asked to perform additional job duties that are directly, indirectly or completely unrelated to normal job functions in the course of presenting certain Town special events.
- Performs related duties as required or assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; AND
- One (1) year of custodial and maintenance experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Conditions of Employment:
- Safe driving record and valid Texas Driver’s License.
- Clear Criminal Background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of routine maintenance and cleaning procedures.
- Knowledge of general maintenance materials and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Skill in using various maintenance tools and equipment.
- Skill in following written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed throughout recreation facilities, both inside and outdoors. Work requires moderate physical exertion and exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment and hazardous chemicals. May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Routine schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Schedule may be modified if department needs arise. May be required to work overtime if needed.
