Schedule: Approximately 15–20 hours/week (flexible schedule, remote eligible)
Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the principal manager of the Tower Street Community Center, operated by Tower Street Center, Inc., a non-profit special purpose entity. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing tenant relationships, supporting community programming, and ensuring fiscal and administrative compliance with Board policies, legal requirements, and non-profit standards. The Executive Director works collaboratively with the Board of Directors to advance the mission of the center and serve the needs of the community.
Key ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Leadership & Management
· Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the Tower Street Community Center.
· Implement policies, programs, and strategic plans in partnership with the Board.
· Report regularly to the Board on operations, finances, and key developments.
Tenant & Facility Oversight
· Serve as the primary liaison to all tenant organizations located within the center.
· Manage tenant leases, occupancy agreements, and resolve tenant issues.
· Oversee maintenance, safety, and functionality of the facility in coordination with vendors and contractors.
Financial Management
· Work with the Board Treasurer and/or contracted bookkeeper to develop and manage the annual budget.
· Monitor financial performance and ensure sound fiscal practices.
· Prepare and submit grant applications and funding reports as needed.
Community Engagement & Programming
· Build relationships with community stakeholders, local organizations, and residents.
· Support and promote programs, events, and services that align with the center’s mission.
· Represent the organization at public events, meetings, and with community partners.
Fundraising & Development
· Identify and pursue funding opportunities including grants, donations, sponsorships, and partnerships.
· Maintain donor relationships and ensure compliance with funding requirements.
Administrative Duties
· Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and non-profit best practices.
· Maintain records, files, and documentation required by funders, tenants, and the Board.
· Support board meetings with agenda preparation, minutes, and follow-up.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field preferred.
· Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a leadership role with a nonprofit or community organization.
· Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
· Familiarity with facilities management and lease administration is a plus.
· Experience with budgeting, grant writing, and working with a volunteer board.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with flexibility and accountability.
Compensation
This is a part-time independent contractor position (15–20 hours/week).
Compensation range: [$40,000–$50,000 annually, depending on experience].
Some evening or weekend availability may be required for board meetings or special events.
