East Haddam Youth & Family Services (EHYFS) is seeking a compassionate, community-focused leader to serve as our next Executive Director / Social Worker. This is a unique opportunity to lead a long-standing community nonprofit that provides meaningful support, prevention, and advocacy services to youth and families throughout East Haddam.
We are looking for a dynamic professional who brings both strategic leadership and a passion for direct community support. The ideal candidate will be energized by building relationships, strengthening programs, and responding to the needs of youth and families in a hands-on way.
About the Role
The Executive Director / Social Worker oversees the organization's operations, program delivery, community partnerships, and financial stewardship while also providing direct support to youth and families.
This hybrid role is well-suited for a leader who is comfortable moving between:
- Community engagement
- Program and staff support
- Case management and crisis response
- Collaboration with the Board of Directors
- Operational and fiscal oversight
You will have the opportunity to guide an established nonprofit, maintain valued community partnerships, and represent the agency throughout East Haddam.
Key Focus Areas
- Provide organizational leadership and support the mission, values, and goals of EHYFS
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environment for staff, community partners, and clients
- Deliver short-term, non-clinical case management, referrals, and crisis intervention to youth and families
- Coordinate Juvenile Review Board activities, meetings, and case follow-up
- Build strong partnerships with town agencies, schools, and community providers
- Support budgeting, grant writing, fundraising, and community outreach
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in MSW)
- Experience working with youth and families; nonprofit leadership experience preferred
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to balance administrative leadership with hands-on community support
- Organized, mission-driven, and comfortable working in a small-team environment
- Ability to work some evenings or weekends, as needed
- LCSW or eligibility strongly preferred
Compensation
- $75,000 – $80,000 annual salary
