What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Assistant I position at Tower Health?
- Works within compliance and regulatory parameters while completing the receipt, registration, order entry and labeling of a large volumes of specimens in the appropriate computer system.
- Resolves specimen submission issues.
- Manages a large volume of telephone calls, filing and distribution of patient information.
- Maintains logs and scans documents into the electronic medical record.
- Operates and performs regular preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting on a variety of departmental instruments.
- May require the acquired knowledge of esoteric test requests by physicians and involve order entry and processing of these specimens including assisting with specimen handling at FNA and biopsy procedures.
- Ensures complete accuracy due to the direct impact on patient care.
- Works independently, organizing work to meet established deadlines.
