The position requires knowledge of construction techniques and financial implications on projects. Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of vendors, materials, and subcontractors, as needed. Incumbent will devise new approaches to problems and monitor work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and TEP standards.

Office Duties (±75% of work time):
- Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and design requirements related to telecommunications, commercial, and industrial applications.
- Prepare bids and quotes for prospective projects in a competitive environment.
- Material take-offs
- Labor estimates
- Pricing
- Prepare professional closeout reports for clients.
- Conduct due diligence for projects prior to field work.
- Review peer work product.
Field Duties (±25% of work time):
- Travel is by air and driving.
- Most of the field work will be oversight of sub-contractors building foundations.
- Site inspections and reporting.
- Climbing towers is not required but is a plus.
- Candidate must have a labor-intensive attitude and be capable of lifting fifty pounds.
- Should have the physical ability and the willingness to occasionally scan, probe, dig and drill to obtain dimensions on towers and related structures.
- Adhere to all company and industry standard/regulations (OSHA, ASTM, ANSI, etc.)
- Ability to work independently under limited supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter, team player, results oriented.
Minimum Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have general construction experience; cell tower industry experience is a plus.
- Experience in AutoCAD or similar drawing software is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workplace.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; self-starter, team player, and results oriented. The position is open to someone with the adequate background and a motivated attitude who requires additionally training.
- Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to multi-task and work on different projects simultaneously.
- Strong technical, written, and oral communications skills.
- Strong understanding of financial and budgetary requirements on projects.
- Experience communicating directly with and providing services to clients.
- Ability to understand and apply budgeting principles throughout project lifecycle.
- Experience in working with multiple construction discipline projects within the telecommunication, commercial or light/heavy industrial fields is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Sub-contractor oversight during construction projects. This position requires the employee to ensure that all work is in keeping with the design and contractual documents. While on site the Construction Associate is responsible for ensuring safety practices are adhered to.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation and selection of vendors, materials, and subcontractors.
- Devise new approaches to problems and monitor work compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices, and TEP standards
- Ability to review and follow construction drawings
- Ability to exercise independent decision making for purchase orders, sales orders, etc. as pertaining to assigned projects
- Prepare reports and closeouts related to projects
- Work with multiple jurisdictions to comply with permitting and zoning requirements
- Potential overflow into other areas of Civil engineering
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand, as necessary.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines as well as field testing equipment.
Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
