What are the responsibilities and job description for the PreK Lead Teacher position at Tower Day School?
Lead Teacher Transitional Pre-K
Supervised by the Director
Supervises: Teacher Assistant/Student Teacher
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
· Knowledge of the philosophy of the school
· Safety of the children, including lifting and carrying children as needed
· Functions as a cooperative team member within the classroom and the school
· Observation and evaluation of children in the class. Written evaluations of each child are required
· Planning, supervising and implementing a developmentally appropriate program for the class in accordance with the philosophy and curriculum of the school
· Maintaining open communication with the children’s families, including parent conferences and initiating and returning parent phone calls/emails as necessary
· Participation in monthly staff meetings
· Participation in Parent/Teacher Open House, Halloween Party and End of the year picnic
· Maintaining the ordered arrangement, appearance and learning environment of the classroom
· Responsible for accumulating appropriate number of professional development hours per DEEC requirements
· Compliance with all regulations set forth by DEEC or subsequent licensing agency
Minimum Job Requirements:
-4 courses in Early Childhood Education as approved by DEEC and 9 months of experience in a preschool setting.
Preferred Requirements:
-bachelor’s degree in early childhood education
All Teachers must always comply the DEEC regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, supplying evidence of the following:
-a physical examination from a physician upon employment and every two years thereafter, stating the employee can perform the above stated job
-Proof of MMR immunity for those born after 1957
-current first aid and CPR certification
-DEEC certification, Lead Teacher
-CORI report and fingerprinting
