The Boys & Girls Club of Metro North Pre-K After School Program at the Stoneham Early Learning Center (Stoneham High School site) provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for preschool children at the end of their school day. Our program is designed to support the whole child through developmentally appropriate, play-based experiences that strengthen social-emotional skills, early learning, creativity, and healthy habits. Position Overview:

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro North has an exciting opportunity for a PreK Lead Teacher to support our EEC-licensed preschool. We are seeking candidates who are at least 21 years old or who have a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least three years of preschool classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Communicate with enrolled participants and families.
• Supervise children on site and engage in programming with participants.
• Collaborate, prepare, and implement the daily curriculum and assessments
• Assist with daily hygiene and student care, including but not limited to diapering, cleaning, organizing, mealtime, transitioning, and rest time
• Support in training teachers and assistant teachers as needed
• Participate in BGC Family Community Events
• Actively monitor children at all times, both indoors and outdoors, to ensure the safety of all children
• Use positive guidance techniques to promote social, emotional, and de-escalate behavior as it arises
• Participate in EEC-mandated trainings.
• Assist the Director with additional duties assigned.
• Attend the Mandatory 2-hour monthly staff meeting

Qualifications:

• At least 21 years old and have graduated from high school or equivalent.
• Have an EEC PreK Lead Teacher Certification
• At least 3 years of experience supervising/leading children in a Preschool classroom setting
• Acquire CPR/FIRST AID certification within 60 days of hire
• Acquire EEC Essentials Training and Staff Orientation within 30 days of hire
• Must have experience working with children.
• Must be reliable, resourceful, and dependable transportation.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Able to work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 1:00-6:00 pm and Wednesdays 11:00-6:00 pm
• Able to work occasional half-days 11:00-6:00 pm

Employment Requirements

• Must successfully complete/pass a CORI and background check in accordance with Massachusetts state regulations for youth-serving organizations.

Organization-wide responsibilities:

Works within legal, regulatory, accreditation and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by the Boys & Girls Club; follows safe practices required for the position; complies with appropriate BGC policies and procedures; fulfills any training required by BGC, as appropriate; brings potential matters of non-compliance to the attention of the supervisor or other appropriate BGC staff.

• Ability to lift and carry children and equipment up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand, sit, and move around the classroom for extended periods.

• Ability to remain calm, objective and respectful in potentially stressful situations ( i.e. crying, upset children, upset parents/ guardians or upset staff)
