Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for operating an overhead crane and a powered industrial truck to push, pull, lift, stack, tier and move items; such as, steel coils, dies, equipment, pallets and other material throughout the plant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following..
- Prechecks and inspects all equipment before operation. Informs supervisor of any equipment defects or safety concerns.
- Unloads steel coil delivery trucks.
- Communicates with truck drivers to coordinate shipments.
- Unloads, loads, and stages dies at all presses for stamping production.
- Loads transport vehicles and makes sure loads are evenly and securely places.
- Maintains cleanliness, orderliness in the steel coil storage.
- Inspects materials and labels to insure the location and next process is correct (for both parts and steel coils).
- Notifies Production Supervisor or Quality Control immediately of any visible quality concerns with parts or with shipping.
- Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
- Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials or hooks tow trucks to trailer hitch, and transports load to designated area.
- Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
- Organizes inventory materials on work floor, and supplies workers with materials as needed.
- Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.
- Ensures materials are stored in accurate locations of the plant for ease of accessibility.

Education and/or Experience:
One to three years related experience and/or training.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates/Licenses:
Previous overhead crane certification is desirable.
Previous forklift certification preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Working in this environment requires wearing a company provided uniform and the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel toed work boots, and a hard hat. Loose fitting jewelry and clothing are not permitted.
