Position Summary
The Mail Clerk is responsible for receiving, sorting, processing, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and packages in a timely and accurate manner. This role supports daily office operations by ensuring efficient mail handling while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with postal and organizational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Sort, open, and distribute incoming mail and packages to appropriate departments or individuals.
Collect, weigh, and prepare outgoing mail, including applying postage and completing shipping documentation.
Operate mailroom equipment such as postage meters, envelope openers, and scanners.
Track and log incoming packages and ensure proper delivery.
Maintain mailroom supplies and reorder materials as needed.
Coordinate pickups and deliveries with postal services and couriers.
Assist with interoffice mail runs and document delivery.
Follow security and confidentiality procedures when handling sensitive documents.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong organization and time management skills.
Ability to sort and process mail accurately and efficiently.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with shipping software.
Ability to lift and move packages (typically 20–50 lbs.).
Good communication and customer service skills.
Work Environment
Office or corporate mailroom setting.
May require standing, walking, and light lifting throughout the day.
