Position Overview:
The Laborer – Apprentice supports general construction and maintenance operations on industrial and commercial job sites. This entry-level position assists skilled trades personnel with a variety of tasks, providing an opportunity to learn fundamental construction techniques and job-site safety practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Job Site Support: Assist with general labor tasks, including material handling, cleanup, and equipment setup.
Tool Operation: Safely operate basic hand tools and power tools under supervision.
Site Preparation: Help prepare work areas by loading/unloading materials, moving supplies, and maintaining cleanliness.
Safety Practices: Follow all safety rules and wear appropriate PPE; participate in daily safety meetings.
Teamwork: Support skilled trades such as carpenters, pipefitters, or electricians as directed by site leadership.
Learning & Development: Actively develop construction trade knowledge and skills through on-the-job training.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Willingness to learn and follow instructions in a construction environment.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a team setting.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical labor for extended periods.
Preferred Experience:
OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification.
Prior experience working on construction or industrial sites.
Work Environment:
Work is performed outdoors and in industrial environments, often involving exposure to varying temperatures, heights, and noise. Must follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Labor Foreman or Project Superintendent. Works under the guidance of skilled trades personnel.
