What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant- Front Office/Clinical Care/ Back Office position at Total Vascular Wellness?
A busy surgical practice specializing in Vascular Surgery is currently looking to immediately fill the position of Front Office Admin/Medical Assistant to the right, qualified candidate. We are looking for a person who is bright and friendly. The patient's come first! We want a candidate that has excellent customer service skills and wants to bring a smile to the patients and the office staff. They have excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude. The right candidate will be responsible for all front office duties and responsibilities will be back office duties and the responsibilities will be helping on the clinical side with patient care. The ideal candidate will have a background and extensive experience in medical billing, handling prior authorizations, pre-certs, etc. Also, will have used and has knowledge in using billing software and can assist with submitting claims and collecting any financial obligations from the patient. The right candidate will be able to handle multiple tasks at one time. Willing to learn and adapt quickly in the busy days of patient care. The medical assistant must be able to take directions from the medical and administrative staff and execute those directions. Must be able to work independently during down times to complete all duties and requirements of the surgeon and administrator.
The front office admin handles a variety of duties in the front and back office including:
- Scheduling patients
- Answering phones
- Able to work within an EMR for scheduling
- Insurance Verification and Pre-Authorizations
- Insurance Claims disputes
- Submitting billing through the EMR and billing software
- Adept using Microsoft suite Office products- Outlook, Word, Excel
- Has a professional, polite, appearance and demeanor
- HIPAA training and compliance
- Proper handling and knowledge of medical supplies
- stocking supplies
- inventory
- cleaning patient rooms
- Taking out the trash
- Proper discarding of medical waste
- All aspects of patient care- including wound care
- Assisting the administrator with management duties if needed.
- Be able to lift up to 50lbs

Requirements/ Skills:
- Certified Medical Assistant- Licensed
- College Degree- preferred
- High School Diploma/ GED certification
- Patient vitals
- Injections
- Knowledge of EMR's
- Excellent computer skills- including Microsoft Office
- Medical Record/ EMR patient Entry
- Patient Scheduling
- Handling of surgical instruments
- Sterile set up
- CPR Certified
- Medical Billing and Coding
- HIPAA and OSHA Compliance Knowledge
- Front Office Duites including handling patient phone calls
- Pre-certing for procedures

- Bi-Lingual in Spanish
