Assistant Service Manager – Service Technician & Safety Coordinator (Crane & Hoist Division) FOR INTERNAL CRANE & HOIST EMPLOYEES ONLY.
Job Summary:
The Assistant Service Manager is responsible for supporting service operations, managing technician performance and scheduling, and ensuring safety compliance across all crane and hoist activities. This role is key to delivering excellent customer service, maintaining regulatory documentation, and developing a highly skilled, safety-focused service team.
Location: St. Paul, MN– In-office with field interaction
Pay Range: $30 – $35 per hour, based on experience.
Job Duties:
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain strong communication with internal teams and customers
- Supervise and support service technicians, including scheduling coordination and performance oversight
- Conduct job site inspections to ensure quality work and safety compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture and maintain all required safety records and reporting
- Manage technician timecards and assist with workforce planning alongside the Operations Manager
- Maintain compliance documentation for technician certifications, equipment, DOT requirements, and safety regulations
- Develop and support technician training and ongoing product knowledge
- Review open work orders and ensure timely completion and accurate documentation
- Assist with operational checklists, facility upkeep, and general service department support
- Support outside sales and management while meeting performance goals and deadlines
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Must have 1-2 years of experience as a Service Technician
- Overnight and frequent travel required
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in documentation and compliance
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong customer service mindset and relationship-building skills
- Must maintain reliable attendance and demonstrate professionalism
- Ability to take directions, accept feedback, and continuously improve performance
