Overview
TORQ Distribution, a leading sales and distribution company serving the automotive industry, is seeking a driven, hands-on Operations Manager to oversee warehouse operations in St. Louis, MO. This role is key to maintaining our high service standards by improving operational efficiency, managing team performance, and optimizing inventory workflows.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a strong operations leader who can identify workflow gaps, design and implement improvements, lead key projects, and support the Director of Operations in driving company-wide operational excellence. The Operations Manager will manage daily warehouse activities, supervise and develop staff, and ensure smooth, efficient processes for receiving, storing, and distributing products.
What You’ll Do
Staff Supervision & Training
- Lead, coach, and hold warehouse team members accountable while promoting a collaborative environment.
- Provide hands-on support and conduct quarterly performance reviews.
- Monitor productivity and guide team members to improve efficiency.
- Mentor Assistant Warehouse Managers and support leadership development.
Warehouse Operations
- Oversee receiving, product check-in, storage, and distribution processes.
- Maintain facility organization and cleanliness; address repair or maintenance needs promptly.
Asset & Vehicle Management
- Ensure warehouse equipment and vehicles are maintained, clean, and operational.
- Track equipment usage and support timely delivery of all products, including special requests.
Project Management & Process Improvement
- Lead warehouse-related projects focused on operational efficiency.
- Identify issues, propose solutions, and execute improvement initiatives.
Data Navigation & Analysis
- Use data to monitor warehouse performance and optimize labor, delivery routes, and cost efficiency.
- Utilize Excel for reporting, analysis, and decision-making.
Personnel Management & Leadership
- Recruit, train, and develop warehouse staff in alignment with company standards and policies.
- Communicate effectively across departments and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
Performance & Cost Control
- Manage labor costs and leverage GPS and operational data to improve vehicle and delivery efficiency.
Director of Operations Support
- Assist with strategic projects and contribute to operational decision-making.
Final Mile Delivery Management
- Coordinate final mile logistics to ensure products are delivered accurately, on time, and in excellent condition.
- Work closely with sales and logistics teams to resolve delivery challenges and maintain service standards.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and a history of responsible driving.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or related field preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience managing warehouse operations, personnel, or projects preferred (not required).
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with inventory management systems (Sage preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and manage multiple priorities.
- High level of professional integrity, dependability, and respect for others.
Compensation & Benefits
- $65,000 - $85,000 per year
