Packaging Department Assistant Manager

Torkelson Cheese Co. is a family-owned business located in Lena, Illinois. Our business is searching for a packaging department assistant manager to help oversee all aspects of the packaging process. Our company’s packaging department operates during first shift hours.

The successful candidate will posses the following:

· The candidate will oversee 7-10 other employees. The manager must be able to teach, motivate and place staff to best suit the overall production operation.

· Ensure the safety and productivity of all the employees assigned to the packaging department.

· Ensure the production meets Torkelson Cheese Co. standards for quality.

· Be responsible for the operation of the packaging and brine area conveyor belts, packaging equipment and computer systems in their area. Ensure the proper GMP cleaning and maintenance procedures are being taken care of.

· Create and execute the production schedule according to incoming orders.

· Manage incoming and outgoing freight, including operating the forklift and SQF required paperwork.

· Troubleshoot minor “on the fly” maintenance to ensure timely and accurate production.

The manager must be able to work on his or her feet for the entire shift. Also, he or she must be able to think and move quickly to maintain a productive workflow environment.

The candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday beginning at 6am, ending when all of the work is completed.

• High school diploma or equivalent;
• Mechanical Aptitude;
• Ability to speak, read, write and comprehend English.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Strong communication skills
• 1-2 years of experience in a leadership role

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
