What are the responsibilities and job description for the IS Coordinator position at Topy America?

SUMMARY

The IS specialist position installs, modifies and makes minor repairs to personal computer hardware and software systems, and provides technical advice and support to system users

RESPONSIBLITIES

1.    Supports all networked and non-networked computers and printers.

a.    Printers:  Resolves connectivity issues, error codes, or user oriented issues to maintain a functional work environment.

b.    Computers:  Installs/Uninstalls any software, updates all computers with software patches, and performs any necessary maintenance as directed by the I.S. Manager.

c.    Provides end user support by repairing any software or hardware errors, but also by providing positive guidance on best user practices and functionality of software tools whenever possible.

d.    Is pro-active in looking for potential problems that can be fixed to prevent larger problems later.

2.    Records all problem calls in the helpdesk tracking system

a.    Properly categorizes the information from each problem encountered or reported to the help desk, along with the date/time first reported and the date/time the problem was resolved.

b.    Responds quickly to each user who has reported a problem to the helpdesk to let them know someone has taken ownership of the problem and is working toward a solution.

3.    Performs network backups

a.    Using the network backup software, ensures that the network servers and other critical workstations are backed up each night according to I.S. Standards and Procedures.

b.    Ensures the integrity of this system by periodic testing and the use and maintenance of proper backup media.

4.    Communication

a.    Provides timely communication to the I.S. manager on all activities.

b.    Is pro-active in providing suggestions for improvements and documents those in an email or other suitable format.

c.    Is pro-active in addressing any and all open issues that fall under the responsibility of the I.S. coordinator.

d.     Provides a weekly summary of ongoing issues and progress made on projects the I.S. manager has assigned.

5.    Security

a.    Supports and understands cyber- security requirements as required by NIST, ISO/IEC 27001, IATF, and HIPPA standards. 

6.    Ad-hoc projects

a.    Performs additional projects as assigned.

b.    Must be familiar with all I.S. Standards and Procedures, follows approval process, and provides feedback to the I.S. manager on any procedures that might be outdated or obsolete.

c.    Must be familiar with how I.S. fits into the larger business and work towards supporting company goals.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

1.    Proficiency within the technical field and motivation to seek continued personal development and knowledge in the technology venue.

2.    Excellent communications and interpersonal skills for conveying and receiving information and data related to manufacturing operations, interpreting company policies and procedures, safety and quality standards, etc., and for making oral and written presentations of departmental activities.

3.    Excellent analytical and problem solving skills for implementing countermeasures to correct information systems problems.

4.    Ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no direct reports.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Regularly works indoors in an office environment and in a manufacturing environment. 

    Routinely uses standard IT office equipment (i.e. computers, servers, scanners, phones, copiers, etc.)

    Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration.

    Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions both indoors and outdoors. 

    Moderate noise level.

    Frequently exposed to hot, wet, and/or humid conditions. 

    Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles

    Frequently exposed to oil and other petroleum products.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

    Frequently stand, and walk moderate distances.

    Ability to communicate with operators safely. 

    Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms. 

    Climb limited amount of stairs. 

    Regularly required to stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk on uneven surfaces. 

    Regularly required to push, pull and/or lift up to 50 ibs. With or without assistance. 

 

POSITION TYPE / EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Shift start and stop times may be adjusted to support production shifts. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.24/7 on call responsibilities are rotated between IS Manager and IS Coordinators. 

TRAVEL

This position is responsible for locations in KY, TN, and MI and will travel to those locations on an as needed basis. 

EDUCATION

 Associate’s degree in technical field or equivalent work experience.
