SUMMARY

Performs mechanical and dimensional inspection of product. Committed to meet or exceed customer expectations for product performance, service and delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assure the quality of finished goods and incoming materials meet the customer requirements.
  • Retrieve sample parts from the shop floor for inspection.
  • Conduct the required tests necessary for the approval of parts utilizing the TAF inspection equipment per the control plan.
  • Ensure all necessary production parts are approved to ship to meet customer delivery timing.
  • Perform all DAPSTER/PPAP testing per the schedule provided by PPAP coordinator.
  • Perform receiving inspection per approved sampling plan.
  • Prepare, cut, and mold samples for microstructure evaluation.
  • Perform product, process and dock audits on daily basis as instructed by the Quality Manager.
  • Participate in MSA studies including Gage R&R, linearity and stability on gage families per the schedule or if necessary for PPAP.
  • Take corrective action for defective products and procedures.
  • Assist Quality Engineer with projects as assigned; perform other duties as assigned by Quality Manager.
  • File and maintain all records pertaining to the laboratory operations.
  • Enforce company work rules, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that product quality standards are maintained.
  • Communicate with all departments professionally and effectively.
  • Shift priorities in a productive and solutions-oriented manner.
  • Apply flexibility in day-to-day work with a positive mindset, ensuring continuity and quality of work.
  • Follow workplace safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow IATF16949 and ISO14001 standards.
  • Contribute to a positive environment.
  • Promote and maintain a clean work environment consistent with 5S practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No supervisory responsibilities involved.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required and 2 years related experience in quality. Must be capable of using basic quality laboratory inspection equipment and able to read and interpret basic drawings, specifications and test procedures.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Gauging and metrology skills, including calipers, pin gauges, micro view, etc. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to grip up to 45 pounds, finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms above shoulders. The employee is occasionally required to sit; squat, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must frequently push, pull, or lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift to 20 pounds above shoulders. Employees must be able to stand and/or walk on concrete floors for 8 hours or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the non-air-conditioned work environment is usually moderate. While performing normal work duties the employee is exposed to normal manufacturing hazards common to the fastener industry.
