Senior Accountant (Accounting Lead) – Remote
Topsail Steamer, an emerging franchise brand based in Surf City, North Carolina, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to serve as our Accounting Lead and take day-to-day ownership of the company’s accounting function while working directly with an experienced Fractional CFO. This is a full-time, remote position with a Monday–Friday schedule. Occasional travel is required for company meetings and other business needs, with advance notice whenever possible. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting, continuous improvement, and helping a growing company scale.
What You'll Do
- Own the monthly close process from start to finish
- Prepare journal entries and complete bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare monthly financial statements for CFO review
- Manage accounting across multiple legal entities
- Prepare weekly cash flow projections
- Support annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
- Process or oversee AP, AR, payroll, sales tax and general accounting
- Recommend process improvements and strengthen internal controls
- Partner with leadership on financial analysis and special projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with multiple-entity accounting
- QuickBooks Online experience required
- Strong Excel skills
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Excellent organization, communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred
- CPA or CPA candidate
- Experience with franchise organizations, including royalty/franchise reporting
- Experience supporting budgets and cash flow forecasts
- Experience partnering with a Fractional CFO or external CPA
Compensation
Anticipated hiring range: $75,000 – $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits package to be discussed during the interview process.
