Summary Description
While reporting to the Department Manager, the Production Team Lead is responsible for leading production activities within manufacturing operations while supporting safety, quality, productivity, and team performance. This role oversees shift operations, supports process adjustments, and helps maintain smooth coordination across multiple departments.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead a shift of approximately 40 employees in the extrusion department
- Support light maintenance and preventive maintenance activities
- Make process adjustments to maintain production efficiency
- Interface with manufacturing, maintenance, label printing, and shipping/receiving teams
- Manage tool changes and preventive maintenance schedules in coordination with the Maintenance Manager
- Conduct daily pre-shift toolbox meetings
- Participate in month-end close activities, including consuming work orders as directed by the Department Manager
- Monitor and adjust inventory required for daily production
- Direct employees effectively in a fast-changing production environment
- Maintain visible leadership presence on the production floor and remain accessible to shift employees
- Participate in plant safety walks with safety coordinators when assigned
- Set up and operate inventory traceback programs used on the production floor
- Use Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Learn and operate plant systems including Microsoft-based Navision
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot repair and maintenance of thermoforming lines
- Prior inventory experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English, including understanding equipment manuals and diagrams
- Demonstrated leadership in a production environment
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts while standing and walking for extended periods
- Ability to climb, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to read safety postings, operating instructions, and computer screens
- Ability to hear safety warning devices and alarms
