What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Class-A Driver - HME position at TOPEKA FOUNDRY & IRON WORKS?
- Safely operate CDL Class A vehicles with flatbed trailers to transport steel to various job sites
- Properly secure loads using chains, binders, and straps in accordance with safety standards
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance
- Complete deliveries accurately and on schedule while adhering to all DOT regulations
- Maintain clear and professional communication with dispatch and job site personnel
- Typically travel overnight 2–4 nights per week to support project needs
- Enjoy a consistent schedule with most weekends at home
- Valid Class A CDL license required
- Proven experience operating flatbed trailers
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and transportation safety standards
- Demonstrated ability to safely and effectively secure loads
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Willingness and flexibility to travel overnight 2–4 nights per week
- Experience hauling heavy equipment is preferred
- Must be able to successfully complete all post-offer and pre-employment contingencies
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
